Irina has a Medical Degree followed by PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Hamburg. From 2015, she mainly focused on the bioinformatics part of the research and moved from the wet-laboratory to the data analysis. She was working with a variety of deep-sequencing data, including Ribo-seq, RNA-seq, and ONT.
Irina joined OVG in November 2019 as a postdoctoral medical bioinformatician. She is involved in the statistical analysis of big datasets derived from the vaccine trials. In addition, Irina is developing the new pipelines allowing to increase the quality of the output from sequencing data.
She is proficient in R and Python programming languages and besides the research activity, she is organising a weekly Big Data Club within the OVG and leading the programming tutorials at Big Data Institute. Irina is a member of the Early Career Research Committee of the Department.
