Oxford Neuromuscular Centre
The Oxford Neuromuscular Centre (ONMC) brings together leading researchers and clinicians from across the University of Oxford and Oxford University Hospitals to accelerate the development of new therapies for neuromuscular diseases.
Established in 2019 through a partnership between Muscular Dystrophy UK and the University of Oxford, the Centre has become an internationally recognised hub for translational research and clinical trials, spanning discovery science through to first-in-human and late-phase clinical studies.
Today, ONMC comprises 18 Principal Investigators working collaboratively across multiple departments and disciplines to improve outcomes for people living with neuromuscular conditions.
Research
The ONMC supports collaborative research across the full translational pathway, bringing together expertise in:
- RNA therapeutics and antisense oligonucleotides
- Gene therapy and gene editing
- Disease modelling
- Biomarkers and outcome measures
- Clinical trials
- Precision medicine
- Early diagnosis and newborn screening
By combining basic science with clinical expertise, the Centre aims to accelerate the development and evaluation of innovative therapies for neuromuscular diseases.
