Your first day
On your first day, the HR team will give you an induction to explain some administrative processes and answer any questions you might have.
Furthermore, if you haven’t already, you will need to present your identification documents to the HR team to prove you have the right to work in the UK. For further information, including which alternative documents you can bring, please have a look at the right to work checklist, which can be found on the Home Office website. Your start date may be delayed if the HR team have not seen the correct documents.
The HR team will hand you your University card and your IT Services username (also referred to as Single Sign-on or SSO), so you can complete your IT registration and start using University computers, Wi-Fi, and printers. Please email IT if you have any problems.
After the HR induction, you get to know your workplace and new team, including the standard health and safety procedures, security and evacuation. Your manager should start working through your induction checklist with you to cover these and other useful things.
You will receive a Health & Safety and IT induction during your first week. Your line manager will provide you with the details of both sessions.
