Narjes Rohani

Postdoctoral Research Associate

I’m a postdoctoral research associate in the Sanders and Rinaldi labs, where I study the genetic, functional genomics, and epigenetic foundations of neurodevelopmental disorders and psychiatric diseases. I aim to identify when and how these disorders emerge by analysing a wide range of biological data—including gene expression (bulkRNA and scRNA), chromatin accessibility (scATAC), and bulk DNA sequencing from brain tissues at different stages of development. My ultimate goal is to find specific enhancers (gene-regulating DNA regions) that could use as therapeutic targets.

Previously, I completed a PhD in Precision Medicine at the University of Edinburgh and a master’s in Computer Science and Bioinformatics at Shahid Beheshti University in Iran. My past research focused on analysing multi-omics datasets using machine learning algorithms. I’m also an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and have worked to improve teaching in bioinformatics and health data science disciplines
