Our department is a world-leading centre for health research dedicated to improving health and wellbeing across the life course, from infancy through to adulthood. Through innovative science, interdisciplinary collaboration and close partnerships with patients, healthcare providers and industry, we work to address some of the most important health challenges facing society today. Our research spans discovery science, clinical research, public health and implementation, with a shared focus on generating knowledge that leads to meaningful improvements in prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
We bring together researchers, clinicians, educators and professional specialists who are united by a commitment to improving lives through research. By combining cutting-edge scientific approaches with real-world insight from patients, families and healthcare systems, we ensure that our work is both scientifically rigorous and relevant to the needs of those it is intended to benefit. We also play a vital role in training and developing the next generation of researchers, clinicians and leaders who will shape the future of healthcare.
Our vision is to improve health globally through transformative research from infancy to adulthood. We pursue this vision by pioneering research that advances understanding of health and disease and translating discoveries into better outcomes for individuals and communities. We focus on major challenges of global importance, underserved populations and unmet needs, delivering outstanding research that drives change in policy, practice and healthcare delivery around the world.
Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We work closely with patients and families, the NHS and healthcare systems, academic institutions, industry partners and policymakers to maximise the impact of our research. These partnerships enable us to accelerate innovation, translate evidence into practice and ensure that our discoveries deliver tangible benefits for society.
Our values guide how we work and how we treat one another. We are driven by ambition for global impact, striving to improve equitable health outcomes for children and society. We pursue excellence in all aspects of our research, education and professional practice. We act with integrity, building trust through honesty, fairness and accountability. We believe that collaboration across disciplines, organisations and geographies enables us to achieve more together. We foster a culture of respect and inclusion where every individual is valued, heard and empowered to contribute, and we are committed to supporting people at every stage of their career to develop, thrive and realise their potential.
