Fetal, Neonatal and Childhood Transfusions
Roberts I., Luban N., New HV.
The chapter describes the principles of transfusion practice in the fetal and paediatric age groups, including strategies to maximize safety and efficacy through the use of special components for this vulnerable population. Clinically important areas of fetal and neonatal transfusion, such as haemolytic disease of the newborn, are covered in detail and recent trials relating to neonatal transfusion triggers are discussed. Transfusion in older children includes several topics, with particular emphasis on haemoglobinopathies. This edition first published 2013 © 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.
