Emeritus Professor Irene Roberts holds the 2022 Ham-Wasserman Lecture Award from the American Society of Hematology.

Emeritus Professor Irene Roberts, leader of the Fetal and Neonatal Haematology Group at the MRC Molecular Haematology Unit delivered the prestigious 2022 Ham-Wasserman Lecture at the 64th ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition, held in New Orleans Louisiana in December 2022. The Ham-Wasserman lecture honours two past ASH presidents, Dr Thomas Hale Ham and Dr Louis R Wasserman.

Professor Roberts delivered the lecture entitled: ‘Why Is the Risk of Developing Leukemia So High in Children with Down Syndrome and What Can We Do About It?’
