The change comes as the department is evolving and preparing to celebrate it's 50th anniversary in 2022.
Over the years the department has attracted a diverse mix of audiences (academic and clinical peers, clinical trial participants and patients, donors and funders, the Oxford community and health policy makers) and a new logo was sought to help create a stronger, more memorable first impression with these influential groups and to reflect the core values of the department.
These are:
- Expert
- Progressive
- Inclusive
- Collaborative
- Transparent
These values were a catalyst to the logo creation. Designed to work effortlessly across digital and physical channels, the new logo evokes a feeling of progression and embodies the values: For example: Expert: the capital letters in the Paediatrics name show authority, Progressive: the colours progress and change, and the shapes show movement and Inclusive and collaborative: the letterforms and shapes wrap around each other, showing inclusivity.
This new logo follows the recent relaunch of the Paediatrics website which was redesigned with a cleaner, modern look, offering a more intuitive user experience.
Prof Georg A Holländer, Head of Department commented: "The logo is a testament of how we embrace a broad scientific research spectrum as a growing, inclusive academic department. The logo design therefore wishes to capture this scientific breadth and provides a visual narrative for the dynamic nature of our Department."
