Geoffrey Denwood

I joined the team in April 2021 as a Research Facilitator for the Oxford Harrington Rare Disease Centre. The Centre combines the University of Oxford and the Harrington Discovery Institute's (Cleveland, Ohio, USA) world-leading strengths in research and therapeutics development. It will set the science and innovation agenda, driving cutting-edge rare disease breakthroughs to address the unmet need in rare disease across the globe to deliver major clinical impact for patients. 

My role involves assessing research capabilities and building research programmes in the field of rare diseases in Oxford and beyond. By coordinating research activities efficiently and effectively, we believe we can accelerate biomedical translational research projects to treat or cure rare diseases. In my role I will work with academics across Oxford and other partners to identify and plan suitable research opportunities and projects, pursue suitable funding sources and project manage research programmes.

Prior to starting this role, I completed a BSc Hons degree in Molecular Genetics and a PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Dundee before conducting postdoctoral research for four years in the University of Oxford's Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism.
