Fatima Usman


Dphil Student

Fatima is a Dphil student working with the Paediatric Neuroimaging team in the Department of Paediatrics.  Her research interest is in neonatal neurology and is currently working on identifying the relationship between neonatal breathing and EEG-recorded brain activity under the supervision of Dr Caroline Hartley.

Fatima is a member of Balliol College and is funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. She graduated from Bayero University Kano with a degree in medicine and has a master's in advanced Paediatrics from King College London. Before her Dphil, Fatima worked as a senior lecturer at Bayero University Kano and as a neonatologist at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Nigeria.
