Oxford Vaccine Group largest team in OX5 RUN 2024

| Over 900 people turned out in glorious Spring sunshine yesterday to run the OX5 RUN - a five-mile loop around the Blenheim estate which raises funds for the Oxford Children's Hospital. The Oxford Vaccine Group was the largest team at this year's event with 36 PIs, research assistants, and administrative staff from across the Department lacing up on the start line for OVG, along with their family members and pets too. The OX5 RUN is the biggest annual fundraiser for the hospital and the OVG has taken a team every year since it began in 2002. Anna Kelly, one of the OVG team, was the first woman to cross the finish line in 32 minutes and 27 seconds. |

New fellowship opportunity with the Local Policy Lab in Oxford
|

|
Interested in supporting local policy with evidence-based research? A pilot Fellowship Programme is open for applications from graduate students who, supervised by academics and county officers, will work with a local policy partner to conduct research in the areas of climate and health in Oxfordshire.
The Programme will run from 22 April to the first week of July. Fellows will utilise the last two weeks of the programme to prepare and present their findings to their policy partner. Fellows are expected to allot a maximum of four hours per week throughout the duration of the programme.
This opportunity is part of the Local Policy Lab, a brand-new alliance between the University of Oxford, Oxford Brookes University and Oxfordshire County Council that aims to bridge the gap between research and local policy.

To help us improve our support for you, we invite you to share your views on research practice in a short 5-10-minute survey developed by the University’s Research Practice Group. We want to hear from any PGR students or staff who conduct or support research, based in all Divisions of the University and/or in the Colleges. | The Centre for Teaching and Learning is hosting a one-day in-person symposium on Monday 17 June at Merton College to celebrate excellence and innovation in teaching and learning at Oxford. The event will bring colleagues together from across the collegiate University to connect with peers and share examples of their flexible and inclusive teaching and assessment practice. You are invited to contribute to the symposium programme by submitting proposals for lightning talks and posters. Submissions close at 12 noon on Friday 3 May. |

| Three programmes now open for applications! |

Our Postgraduate courses in Paediatric Infectious Diseases are now open for entry in September 2024! Three programmes are on offer: A postgraduate certificate, a postgraduate diploma and an MSc. The international panel of tutors is led by Sir Andrew Pollard, Ashall Professor of Infection and Immunity and Director of the Oxford Vaccine Group. The programme draws on world-class research and teaching and offers a unique opportunity to gain an understanding of the principles that underpin paediatric infection and to translate this understanding into good clinical and research practice. For entry in September 2024, the courses will be run by the Department of Paediatrics.

| Bake the world a better place |

OVG is hosting a bake sale and book swap to raise funds for their Earth Day event in April (a gardening initiative where staff will plant edible fruit, vegetables and herbs. The proceeds of this sale are being used to buy seeds and seedlings). The sale will be held in the Seminar Room at CCVTM and you can just show up on the day with something you've baked, or you can send Audrey Au Yong a message to let her know you're getting involved. |

The admin team has organised an all-day event dedicated to discovering and celebrating the research that our groups undertake. It will be a whole day of presentations, posters and shared information about the myriad of projects that our researchers and students are working on.
