Sithara Ramdas
Consultant Paediatric Neurologist and Senior Investigator
Sithara Ramdas is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist based at the Oxford Children’s Hospital from 2016 and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer with the University of Oxford since 2018. Having graduated in Medicine from the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Belgaum, India, she went on to do a decade long postgraduate Paediatric training spread over centres in both England and Scotland and then completed her specialist Paediatric Neurology and neuromuscular training from Evelina Childrens Hospital in London. She was awarded her Fellowship from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) in 2018.
Her specialist clinical and research focus are on neuromuscular disorders and neuroimmunology. She leads the regional NHS Paediatric Neuromuscular multi-disciplinary service. She is the Paediatric lead for the National Highly Specialised Services for Congenital Myasthenia Syndromes and Neuromyelitis Optica. She is the principal investigator for several past and current clinical trials and her current areas of research interest are on DMD, SMA, Congenital and Acquired Myasthenia. She was awarded the “Green Shoots” funding for young researchers from the Thames Valley and South Midlands Clinical Research Network (CRN-NIHR) in 2019. Since 2022, she leads the NHS England Rare Disease Collaborative Network (RDCN) for Juvenile Myasthenia Gravis from her clinical base at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
