Transposable elements in cell fate decision
My research is funded by Wellcome Trust as a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow as well as by the Institute for Developmental and Regenerative Medicine (IDRM)/Department of Paediatrics transition fellowship to set up my own research group.
The Berrens group is trying to understand how transposable element expression controls gene expression during early mammalian development. To accomplish this, we have recently developed CELLO-seq, a novel method to study locus-specific transposable element expression in single cells using long-read sequencing.
