Senior Paediatric Research Nurse
Louise Willis has been working in paediatric research since 2010. Initially she worked as a research nurse on the numerous research studies carried out at the Children’s Hospital in Oxford. During that time she also took on the roles as Lead Nurse for the UK-Childhood Meningitis and Encephalitis Cohort Study and the UMSCOM study. In 2013 Louise took on the role of Senior Research Nurse to co-ordinate the running of the Comprehensive Paediatric Research Team and its portfolio of studies. In late 2016, Louise changed roles to become the full time Lead Research Nurse for the IgNiTE study which is looking at the use of immunoglobulin in the treatment of childhood encephalitis. This role is varied and includes the set up, initiation and monitoring of around 30 sites running the study, as well as working with the study team to manage the project. Louise qualified as a nurse in 2006 after consolidating previous roles in childcare and pharmacy with a nursing degree. Her clinical background is in general paediatrics, nursing children from birth to 16 with a wide range of medical and surgical problems.
