Lara Cravo

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Lara studied Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, before moving to Oxford to do her Master's thesis on cancer biology with Prof Xin Lu, focused on the regulation of ASPP2 and Notch pathway in skin tumourigenesis. For her DPhil, she joined the laboratory of Prof Matthew Wood (University of Oxford) to investigate the role of DNA and RNA structures on transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of RNA Pol II transcribed genes aiming to understand the molecular pathomechanisms of trinucleotide expansion disorders, such as Huntington's disease.

Lara is now a postdoctoral researcher with an interest in RNA biology, RNA processing and transcriptional regulation of dsRNA-binding proteins as potential disease modifiers in human neurodegenerative diseases.
