Jane Millar

DPhil Student

Exploring in utero HIV infection in South Africa; the potential for cure.

Jane (MBChB, Dip Paeds) is a Kiwi who in 2016 was working as a paediatric registrar in KwaZulu-Natal South Africa as part of her training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Child Health Division. It was during this time she became determined to work towards solving the devastating problem of paediatric HIV. She is now based at the HIV Pathogenesis Programme in Durban, South Africa working towards her DPhil as a member of the Goulder group; exploring the potential for cure in in utero HIV-infected infants, namely with very early antiretroviral therapy initiation. Jane hopes to continue a career in clinical research, hopefully one day as a paediatric infectious disease specialist.
