The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in areas such as vaccinology, HIV and rare diseases.

The Department is committed to research that improves our understanding of child health with the aim to improve chances and quality of life for all children.

The department’s work includes the Oxford Vaccine Group’s ongoing rapid response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in rolling out a global clinical trial at unprecedented speed to ensure that the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective to use across the world.
