The MSD Teaching Excellence Awards formally recognise distinction in teaching, supervision, the organisation and development of teaching, and support for teaching and learning within a research-intensive environment. They also acknowledge and reward individuals who have exceeded expectations in carrying out their duties.
In anonymised feedback on Rebeccah’s supervision, one student said: “(It) goes far beyond what is generally expected by a supervisor. (Her) inspirational leadership style pushes me to strive to achieve my best in terms of academic and personal development.”
Another commented: “Rebeccah is the best supervisor I’ve had in my academic career. She is an excellent academic and scientist and she has an unusual balance that combines pursuing high standards and outputs while caring for the wellbeing and development of her students and staff. Her passion about her research field is contagious and inspiring. I’ve learned so much by observing how she approaches new challenges and how she tackles difficult situations.”
Rebeccah said, “I would like to thank the students and staff for kindly nominating me for this award. It is an an absolute privilege to work with our students and I am delighted to receive recognition for supporting them. Supervising early career researchers is the best part of my job, and I am thrilled that my efforts have positively impacted and inspired our brilliant and talented students."
The awards were celebrated in a ceremony at Oxford Town Hall, hosted by Professor Gavin Screaton, Head of the Division, and other members of the MSD senior leadership team.
