Biography

I am a Medical Biochemist with a particular interest in using genome editing technologies to better understand both normal and malignant haematopoiesis.

I studied for a BSc (Ind) in Medical Biochemistry at the University of Leeds where I worked for a year as an Industrial Placement student at GlaxoSmithKline in the Experimental Genomics group. I then worked as a Research Assistant at the Babraham Institute in the Epigenetics Department.

As a DPhil student at the WIMM Molecular Haematology Unit, co-supervised by Professors Adam Mead and Irene Roberts, I developed CRISPR editing tracking system using a fluorescent reporter based approach. This allowed both the lineage contribution and transcriptomic profile of CRISPR edited stem cells to be analysed both in the acute and long-term phase post-editing. I also targeted a loss of function mutation associated with certain childhood leukaemias towards a novel in vivo model.

Current Research Interests

As a Postdoctoral Research Associate working in the labs of Professors Anindita Roy and Thomas Milne, my research is focused on using genome editing approaches to better understand MLL rearranged acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
